He does exist!

John McLeod holding a Trencher Board
John McLeod holding a Trencher Board.

John McLeod signature Over the years it has been humorous when John McLeod is in one of his Wilmington stores, where he does spend a considerable amount of time, and a customer asks, "Who is John McLeod?" Or says something like, "I met John years ago skiing at Mount Snow." Still, we hear equally as often, "Does this John McLeod guy really exist?" It is especially humorous when John himself is chatting with the customer. Well, above is a picture of John holding a Teak Round Trencher Board which he hand turned in 1968. It has been in constant use since its making and is one of the most used boards in his personal kitchen.

Rectangular Trencher Board in Black Walnut When John isn't skiing, boating or harrassing the store staff over daily operations, he likes to work on custom projects and new product designs. Vice President Tom Fox says, "We're so thankful that John likes to ski, because when he's hitting the slopes we can all get some work done!" It's all in good fun though, as John is an exceptional woodturner and his cutting boards and salad bowls are second to none and have found their way around the world. Products from John McLeod Ltd. have been on the shelves of many of the finest stores, such as Williams-Sonoma, Crate and Barrel, Saks Fifth Ave., Neiman Marcus, and a host of fine gift shops throughout the United States and abroad.

Scottish-American Bowl Recently John and Vice President Tom Fox have been re-introducing some products that were popular years ago, but not in production for some time. Products such as, Trencher Boards (shown above), the "Crocus" and "Euro" wooden salad bowls, and very stylish 1800s retro "Scottish-American Bowl". This re-introduction of designs from years past is very exciting and our collectors will certainly want to keep an eye on our website for new developments. Of course we are also sticking to our motto of "Never Standing Still", so expect some wonderful, entirely new products coming to the website shortly as well.

Beehive Bowl
New!
Beehive Bowl
The comfortable contouring of the basket pattern evokes memories of gardens of yore where "skeps" would be strategically positioned to house the bees desired not only for their honey but also for their important pollination of blossoms, flowers, fruits and vegetables. Easily handled and interesting to the eye makes the Beehive Bowl an innovative and complementary addition to our wide selection of wooden bowls which we proudly make right here in Wilmington, Vermont USA.
